Scout & Misty – 7 weeks old

The kittens had a vet appointment to check their health and make sure they were A-OK after the transition from outside in the backyard to the inside of the house. Misty, the big sister, weighed 1.5 lbs and Scout weighed 1.2 lbs. They did have some parasites but overall they are happy and healthy!

They continue to chase things on sticks but have learned that boxes are extremely fun to play in!

They also love to play in the folds of the bedspread. Misty had been the aggressor at first, but Scout seems to be the one to hunt Misty down lately.

And they are still the cutest little baby kittens!

Fireworks x2! – 2014

I was lucky enough to get fireworks two days in a row this year! Chesterfield county does them at the fairgrounds so I watched those on the 4th. There is also a fireworks show downtown on the 3rd, but because of the threat of the tropical storm, they postponed the show until the 5th.

These are from the 4th.

I have never seen the show downtown and thought the war memorial would be a good place to see them, but I left the house too late and the bridges were closed off, so I went to the floodwall, which is under one of the bridges. I didn’t know where the fireworks would actually be coming from and the bridge definitely ended up getting in the way (that’s the black bar in some of the shots). But I now know the memorial will probably be a good vantage point, I’ll just need to leave early next time.

Scout & Misty – 6 weeks old

Scout and Misty’s personalities are starting to come through more and more. Scout is still scouting things out, but she is a little more mellow than her out-of-control sister! Misty must have springs in her feet; she is constantly jumping, bucking and running around! She particularly likes chasing after Scout and wrestling her down. These shots were from last week when they were roughly 5 to 6 weeks old. They learned how to chase and leap on things attached to sticks!

Newest editions: Scout and Misty

Introducing Miss Scout and Miss Misty! Making their grand debut at (we think) 5 weeks old, they could not be any cuter!!! We are also 90% sure, meh, 80% sure they are female. They are so tiny its hard to tell with 100% accuracy!

The very first thing we did was give them a bath to wash the dirt and kill any fleas or other bugs they may have had one them. I was calling this one Uno the first couple of days because she was the first one I caught. She has since been named Scout (she has to investigate EVERYTHING!).

Once she dried off, she is a knock-out, can’t-stand-it, I-want-to-cuddle-with-you-forever cutie pie!

The next day, I caught her sister, whom I was calling Dos (second one caught).

Her name is now Misty and she is just as sweet and cute as her sister.

The two of them are just as curious as can be and are never far from each other.

They recently learned how to play with toys and man-oh-man, do they have fun!

But after all, they are kittens, so it doesn’t take long before they have to take a nap.

But it doesn’t last long before they are up and ready to play again!

Then again…maybe not!

Wait for it…
